The chart below shows the current in production and under construction wind farms in Ontario. Unfortunately, with the Green Energy Act it will become harder to keep this chart current. It also contains a few projects in development, including Amherst Island (which is technically not in development yet). The "Ave Wind" column gives the average wind speed, in m/sec, for the area around the farm, taking the highest reasonable value in the immediate area. The "Max %" column provides the maximum power production possible for the average wind speed given. These numbers are from Ontario's wind map and a GE 1.5mw turbine.

Melancthon seems out of place, as generally a minimum average of 7 km/sec is needed for a turbine to be economical. A few km east of the farm location there are some hills that have higher readings and maybe the turbines are sited to take advantage of that. Or maybe I got the location wrong.
