The common owl species include snowy owls, long-eared owls, great horned owls and great grey owls, among others. You can easily spot the owls on the hydro poles, fence posts, and on trees as you take a stroll around the island.

There are more shoreline cycling routes on Amherst Island as compared to all the coastal roads in the Thousand Islands combined. The cycling routes have gravel on them; hence, it’s easier to navigate to a screened picnic site of your choice.

Amherst Island has been known to be an angling hot spot for a long time and has recently become a fishing destination for people from across the globe.
